The OSA has received an enquiry from Peter Bion, the son of: Maurice Frank Bion (born Feb 1920)
Maurice attended Southend on Sea High School for Boys through the mid 1930's. His Matriculation certificate records his GSE results from December 1937 and awards Matriculation from Jan 1939. His address in Southend on Sea while he attended high school was 46 Durham Rd, Southchurch, Southend on Sea.
He commenced study at Queen Mary's College at the University of London in either 1938 or 1939, but these studies were than interrupted by the war. With the out-break of WW2 went to High Wycombe working for Marconi’s. He married during the war whilst at High Wycombe and in 1953 moved from High Wycombe to Australia. In Australia he worked at the Weapons Research Establishment near Adelaide, spending much time at Woomera and Maralinga in the 1950’s. He died of cancer in 1975.
If any Old Boy has any information that can be shared with his son, either about the School Career or the School medal and Colours (believed to be for Yachting) awarded to Maurice (see picture), please contact me.
